Turns out Zoo New England's dire warnings that animals at the Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo would have to be euthanized if the zoo's budget wasn't restored, was not exactly true. The animals are already confined, there's no need to turn it into a hostage situation. The threats did work, however, as the legislature has restored full funding to the local organization.

No word yet on whether health care for safety net hospitals can be restored. I doubt a similar PR stunt by the hospitals would be as successful.
