Gardner "Yellow Room" Restored

Lady in White, John Singer Sargent

The Yellow Room at the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum has been completely restored, and is finally reopening. For those familiar with the museum, it's the little room, easily overlooked, near the cloakroom, that houses the Sargent portrait of Mrs Gardner, swathed in white, painted after her last stroke. The painting has been off limits while the room was being renovated.

The silk walls have been completely recovered, and several of the paintings cleaned and restored. See the Gardner blog for more details here.
